Characteristics for Success

What does it take to be successful at Alliance? It takes commitment and hard work. It’s a mind-set. Success comes when preparation meets opportunity. Here are a few more of our observations:
Attitude-Your attitude is more important than your aptitude. What you believe you can do is what you will do! Attitude is everything.

Commitment – As Vince Lombardi once said, “The quality of a person’s life is in direct proportion to their commitment to excellence, regardless of their chosen field of endeavor.” Once we make a commitment to something, we have all the power behind us to achieve success.

Communication – Express yourself eloquently and listen to your supervisors, peers and customers. To speak with impact is to sound convincing, authoritative and credible. To uncover people’s needs before offering a solution, listening is key. An inscription found on an ancient Egyptian tomb said, “Make thyself a craftsman in speech, for thereby thou shalt gain the upper hand.”

Goal Oriented – Success consists of setting and reaching small benchmarks on our way towards our objective. We need to set, measure and see our progress. As Booker T. Washington once said, “You measure the size of the accomplishment by the obstacles you had to overcome to reach your goals.”

Organization – A key component that helps us achieve our goals, using a formal time management system is highly recommended for use in prioritizing our time and activities.

Perseverance – Oftentimes those that are most successful are not the ones with the smarts, the degrees or the slogans, but those that simply plod on and have the tenacity to go the distance and reach for the stars!

Self-Starter – Success is connected to ones ability to take action. Successful people keep moving and turn obstacles into experiences, never quitting.

Passion – Confronting the challenge; overcoming the obstacles; understanding the risks; really living; always believing in our objectives and goals, going the distance and expecting the best – being passionate about our work and about our lives is the core of what makes us successful!
